IMBIBE: The Cliffs Wine & Food Tasting
Wine and food festivals generally last a few days, a weekend or even a week for the really big ones. Up at the The Cliffs, they do things a little bigger than everybody else. Imbibe is a full-fledged culinary experience, spread across five separate Cliffs Communities. Now in its third year, the festival brings together the best wines from all over the world and pairs them with the culinary delights of The Cliffs’ renowned chefs for nine days of amazing food and drink that culminates in the Grand Tasting.
The beauty of The Cliffs being spread out over seven different communities is that each has its own chef with their own style and flavor that they bring to the table. From traditional Southern influences to classic French cuisine, each community has its own personality. One thing they do have in common is a dedication to fresh, locally sourced cuisine, much of it coming from The Cliffs’ own five-acre organic farm. Imbibe is a showcase for all that.
It all begins on Friday September 23 when guests can choose between a dinner pairing “tongue gripping reds” from Paul Hobbs Selections with five courses from Chef Shawn Creef at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls, or a full French-themed dinner at The Cliffs at Mountain Park. The days that follow offer more dinners, as well as a sommelier luncheon, a class on molecular gastronomy, a German Oktoberfest and a “top secret” bar takeover.
The Cliffs closes the show in a big way with the Grand Tasting event at their Mountain Park community, featuring over 150 wines from around the world, a North and South Carolina supported beer garden, handcrafted spirits and culinary demonstrations. It’s one heck of a closing performance.
Also in attendance will be representatives and importers of wines from all over the world. This year’s list of VIPs include Harley Aveiro of Paul Hobbs Selections, international renowned importer Peter Weygandt, and Donald Patz of Patz & Hall Winery, to name a few. They join an already impressive list of chefs and sommeliers that already call The Cliffs Communities home on a regular basis.
There are a select number of tickets available to the general public. If fine dining, local food and the world’s finest wines sound like a good time (and how could they not?) get yours now before it is too late.
