Sunday Sit-Down Supper with Jamie DeMent and Upcountry Provisions
Jamie DeMent is a farmer, chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, teacher, and a tireless advocate for local food. On 55 acres of beautiful Piedmont farmland near Hillsborough, NC, she and her family sustainably raise heirloom varieties of produce and livestock, as well as run Piedmont Restaurant in Durham and Bella Bean Orgaincs (an online organic farmers market). M. Judson is excited to have her in store to celebrate her latest book, Canning in the Modern Kitchen, with a Sunday Sit Down Supper that’s bound to be truly spectacular.
Joining DeMent will be our friends Cheryl and Steve Kraus from Upcountry Provisions to design a menu based on the recipes in Jamie’s book, and they’ve invited David Porras and Lori Nelsen from the soon-to-open farm and restaurant Oak Hill Cafe to cook for us. It’s a truly magnificent height of summer collaboration (and a great chance to preview Oak Hill before anybody else!) Tickets include a welcome cocktail, a four course meal, wine, and words from Jamie, and well as a copy of Canning for The Modern Kitchen to take home.

Roasted Chicken over Stone Ground Grits, with okra, huckleberry, pickled beets

Sweet Corn Panna Cotta, with watermelon salsa, blue corn
