Blueberry Infused Vodka

This drink is delicious on its own or as a base for other summer mixed drinks. (We like to muddle mint, add it to our blueberry vodka, pour over ice, and top with club soda for an extra refreshing summer beverage.)

Ingredients

SERVINGS: 1 liter
  • 3 cups organic blueberries
  • 1 liter high quality vodka

Preparation

Rinse blueberries in colander, then place in pot on stove on medium heat. Stir constantly to prevent scalding, until berries begin to release juice. Once there is more juice than berries in the pot, remove from heat. Let the blueberries and juice return to room temperature. Pour blueberries and juice into large, glass airtight jar. (Plastic containers might leach, so don’t use them.) Pour in vodka, stir, screw on the lid and put jar in your cupboard. Set a calendar reminder to shake the jar once every day for 1-2 weeks, or until you’re satisfied with the blueberry flavor. Strain out the solid bits and pour vodka into a new jar. Store blueberry vodka in cupboard if you plan to use within a couple months or in fridge if you plan to to exercise more restraint on your consumption.
